The implementation of the project has depended, and continues to depend, on the participation or collaboration of many individuals, companies, and institutions, even though none of them bears responsibility for the research process or the results obtained to date. In July 2006, for example, technicians from the Deutsches Zentrum f\u00fcr Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR)<\/i> in Braunschweig, Germany, took hundreds of aerial photographs of the Marisma de Hinojos using a remote-controlled aircraft. In the summer of 2009, the Canadian scientific documentary production company Associated Producers<\/i>, on the recommendation of Professor Richard Freund of the University of Hartford, funded geophysical surveys and a new round of aerial photography\u2014this time using a helium balloon\u2014conducted by technicians from the Canadian firm WorleyParsons Ltd<\/i>. Much of the resulting material was later used in the production of the documentary Finding Atlantis<\/i>, acquired by the National Geographic Society in the U.S. and broadcast internationally beginning in March 2011. As it has done in other contexts, the Project\u2019s leadership acknowledges here the valuable contribution that these field surveys made to the progress of the research, although it does not share many of the assertions or interpretations of the data presented by Professor Freund in that documentary, for which he alone is responsible.<\/p>\n

The project leadership would also like to thank V\u00edctor Mayoral and Tom\u00e1s Cordero of the CSIC, and Claudio Lozano of the University of Huelva, for their participation in the fieldwork; archaeologist Miguel Alba-Calzado of the Consorcio Ciudad Monumental de M\u00e9rida, for his analysis of the Andalusian-period ceramic fragments found; and to chemist Antonio Rubinos of the CSIC for his guidance on the technical complexities surrounding the absolute dating of organic material using the carbon-14 method. We must also acknowledge the work of Roberto Garc\u00eda Infanz\u00f3n, Andr\u00e9s Rodr\u00edguez Blanco, and Carmen Contreras in processing images and other illustrations for reports and publications.<\/p>\n
